Virtual Private Network (VPN)
What is a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
Virtual Private Networks otherwise known as VPNs create a encrypted tunnel between your computer/server and an external server. VPNs are often used by customers subscribing to
Data Replication to further sure data in transit between iCarol servers and the customers server.
Setup a Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Due to the secure and technical nature of creating a VPN tunnel between iCarol servers and your own, it is essential that your IT Department/Network Administrator be engaged throughout the setup.
Step 1: iCarol will provide a worksheet asking for information about your network that will aid in the configuration of the VPN tunnel. Some of the information asked of your Network Administrator will include:
- Names and contact information for the Primary Technician(s) of your network
- Information about endpoints including the Device model and firmware version
- IPsec parameters such as IP address, authentication methods, modes, tunnel type and IKE version
Step 2: iCarol will request at least one (1) meeting between our engineers and your Network Administrator to build and test the configuration.
Step 3: Once the connection is confirmed and active, additional configuration will begin that will use the VPN tunnel, such as Data Replication.

Note, this feature may have an additional cost associated with it. If your organization is interested in enabling this feature, then a designated Support Contact from your organization can go to 'Help' in the left side menu and submit a case to request more information.
