SMS/Text Notifications

Enable SMS/Text Notifications to Users

After the SMS/Text Notifications to Vols-Staff feature is enabled in your system, notifications can be sent automatically from iCarol directly to a user's cell phone.

To enable the SMS/Text Notifications to Vols-Staff feature in your iCarol system, a designated Support Contact must submit a ticket and request iCarol Support enable the feature.

After the feature is enabled in your system, the following steps must be completed for each user who wishes to receive SMS/Text Notifications from iCarol:
  1. From the main Vols-Staff page, find the user profile you wish to edit
  2. Click the first name of the user to view the profile
  3. When viewing the user profile, click the 'Edit' button at the top of the page
  4. Go to the Contact Info panel of the profile and enter your 'Mobile Phone' in the respective field
  5. Directly below the Mobile Phone field select the checkbox 'I permit SMS's to be sent to this mobile phone'
  6. Go to the Notifications panel of the profile and under the SMS Notifications section, select the check boxes for all notifications you wish to receive by SMS/Text
  7. Click 'Save'
Each notification listed is sent in the following scenarios:
  1. Shift Reminder: the morning you are scheduled for a shift
  2. Shift calendar is open: the day your Shift calendar is set to open, as configured by your organization in Admin Tools
  3. Shift substitution request: if a user in your system has requested a shift substitution
  4. New Chat Alert: if you have Messaging (Live Chat or SMS/Text) enabled in your system, and if Mobile Alerts have been configured for your organization, as explained in detail in this help article, Mobile Alerts on new Messaging Conversations
Note, there is no additional cost to enable this feature but your organization will be invoiced based on your monthly SMS usage. For more information about pricing for SMS usage, please have a designated Support Contact go to 'Help' in the left side menu and submit a case to request more information.
