Populate External URL for Screen Pop (Contact Records)
This tool supports workflows where opening an external web application, page or tool from iCarol Contact Records is needed. Enabling this setting will place an additional link on your Contact Records (top right) that Volunteer-Staff users can click to trigger a screen pop to an external website/application with supported mapped parameter values from the Contact Record.
Example use cases:
- Opening an external application form, with the iCarol Contact Record Number referenced
- Linking to an external web application
The configuration of this tool is available to Admins and user with access to managing the overall settings of Contact Forms.
Log into iCarol as an Admin or user with access to Contact Form overall settings
- Click on Contacts from the left menu
- Click on Manage Contact Form Versions
- Click on "Edit this form" under the Contact Form you wish to configure
- Click on "Overall settings for this call report form"
- Navigate to the section titled "Populate External URL for Screen Pop"
Configuration Settings:
- External URL: The URL to the external website/application. Example: "https://www.icarol.com"
- Link Label: The link text that will display on the Contact Record to Volunteer-Staff users.
- The
Parameter Name is the field name that will be sent in the URL (e.g. “contactid”,
“volnum”)
- The
Parameter Type defines what type of information will be sent. At this time
we support a subset of Standard Contact Record fields and Text.
- The
Default Value/Field Name is either the value that will always be sent
(e.g. a token, name, label, etc.), or the name of the standard field to
map to the parameter name (e.g. contactid = CallReportNum)
The External URL Link Label displays on the iCarol
Contact Record when creating or editing an existing Contact Record. Volunteer-Staff users can click on the URL to screen pop the configured URL along with any parameters. The external URL will open in a new tab.
