Legacy Shifts: Understanding Trainer/Trainee Shifts
Understanding Trainer/Trainee Shifts
When you create a new shift you may select the 'This is a Training Shift' setting to help ensure you have a trainer available to work with a trainee. Selecting this setting will:
- Creates two entries simultaneously; one for the Trainer and another one for the Trainee
- Unlike non-training Shifts, after you create the shift you are unable to edit or delete it; training shifts must be deleted by the iCarol Tech Team; see below for more information
- If you use the alternative/graphical Shift calendar view, the training shift will appear as '...' on the calendar; hover your mouse over the shift to identify the shift name and Trainer or Trainee
Edit/Delete Training Shifts
Due to the complexity of programming a combination shift, this shift type does not allow editing, and it requires Technical Team authorization to delete. If you have a Trainer/Trainee shift that needs to be deleted since it cannot be corrected, please have a designated Support Contact from your organization submit a case from the Help area requesting this, with the following information:
- Name of the Shift
- Start Date of Shift
- Start Time of Shift
- End Time of Shift
- End Date of Shift
Or, from the bottom of the main Shifts page, click the 'List all Shifts' button. Find the Training Shift in your list of Shifts, right click it and select 'Copy Link Address/Location', and send the the URLs for the Training Shifts to be deleted.
Sign of for a shift and a concurrent Trainee Shift
When a worker with 'Trainer' designation signs up for a shift they have the option of also creating a concurrent Trainee shift.
- Go to the Graphical view of the Shift calendar (on Main Shifts page, click on 'here' in note to Admin)
- Click on the Shift you wish to sign up for.
- Click check box for 'Also create concurrent Trainee shift'
- Click 'Sign up'
- Select name of Trainee etc.
Note: such Trainer/Trainee shifts can only be deleted by the iCarol Technical staff.
