Many iCarol subscribers who offer 211 services wish to participate in the national program offered by PreventionPays/EMS using the 898211 short code. PreventionPays created an integration product that allows CRM’s such as iCarol to send information through the 898211 short code from their local systems.
iCarol has built support for mutual subscribers of the PreventionPays/EMS platform and iCarol to send referral information from iCarol through the 898211 short code. PreventionPays/EMS refers to this service as the “Phone-to-Text Referrals”.
To get started, have a designated Support Contact from your organization go to Help in the left side menu and submit a case with the following information:
- names of each contact form that should be enabled to send referrals using the 898211 short code
- the PreventionPays/EMS “text relay code” (a unique value to identify your iCarol system to PreventionPays/EMS system; you'll work with PreventionPays/EMS directly to create this before reaching out to iCarol for setup)
- What information from resource records should be included with the SMS Referral. (eg. Name, Parent Agency Name, Phone numbers, Address, eligibility, website, etc.)
- Note, the referral name doesn't get included in the template, but will always be sent to the help seeker. Depending on your organizations settings, you may save referral to the Agency or Program level, or both. For example, if you make a referral to a Program named 'ABC Food' from the Agency 'Elmdale Helps', depending on how your template is setup, you may see in the call report where you send the referral as a text message, the text box begins with "offered by Elmdale Helps - Phone number: 555-867-5309...". But when the text message is sent to the help seeker they receive a message that says "ABC Food offered by Elmdale Helps - Phone number: 555-867-5309...", even though you don't "ABC Food" isn't included in the text box.
